I agree with everything you've said here, but my first thought was: "This needed to be said?" I know there are plenty of young people out there, or at least there were in the recent past, who adopted the term "lycan" from Underworld and thought that it was somehow different than "werewolf". For people who know anything about werewolves, though, this just seems unnecessary. I suppose, if there is a high concentration of people here with these misconceptions, then this would be important to note. A lot of us are already on the same page.

@Drachona Well, there's been a recent uptick in those sorts of people again, who believe that werewolves and "lycans" are somehow different, along with creating a variety of breeds to go along with those ideas. It's not here, thankfully, but unfortunately it's starting to become a dominant core idea, so I thought that at least posting this would help others find this group, and be able to figure out what is right and what is wrong.

@Haylani I haven't necessarily seen it increase, but I have noticed the continued presence of such ideas. I find this valuable, but I also feel that we could easily wait until the subject comes up and explain this in a few sentences.

@Drachona That is true, but I feel like writing it preemptively was a good idea too, especially if someone is just looking from the outside of this group, and does not care to join but still wants to get information, or is thinking that everyone here believes the things being mentioned elsewhere.
