American patriotism is a curious thing. Its like the insecure ex that feels compelled to tell you she’s doing great every time you bump into her.

If you truly believe things are that good, just live it.

Also making infants swear alliance to a flag is creepy as. In most countries there are no flags in class rooms.

We all believe the place we call home is the best place in the world to be. We don’t want to be anything other than what we are.

But seeing posts of Americans in Paris wondering why French people were treating 4th July as just another day nods to what is going on in the colonies.

@AdmiralPrune And a lot of us are not happy with the current administration. Big Red was elected by a slim majority - and his approval ratings are around 36-42%.

Only 2 1/2 more years of this one and hopefully the next one can fix some of the broken things.

@Pretzel Yes. The news suggests yesterday’s party didn’t go to plan. Between poorly attended events. Dancers nearly killed by a falling speaker, a mirror pool full of green sludge, and weather.

I suspect people chose instead to celebrate with friends and family, as they should, rather be a part of the government shambles.

@AdmiralPrune I'm sure DT is stewing right now and blaming everyone but himself.

There are still too many people adering to the tennets of the Church of the Big REd for my liking.

Fortunately his time in the White House is limited - even if his ability to buy people isn't.

It’s revolting, and I don’t understand why I’m supposed to worship a county that elected Donald Trump twice and ignored an attempted coup.
