To remove the us’s ultimate veto power at the UN General assembly? Consider the following.

Were the debt of the US to be wiped clean and/or distributed equally to all member states. Perhaps a clean financial slate and “reset” for America could be exchanged for removal of the United States’ ultimate veto power in the United Nations General Assembly? It’s a new world. Time for a reset.

They'll just leave the UN and feel even less pressured by their authority (and the pressure is already practically zero).

The UN is a forum for countries to discuss diplomacy, not world's police.

You want all the big players in, hence they get veto power, or they'll just quit.

@Elessar something needs to change the un is destined for failure as it currently stands it needs consolidation simplification reorganization perhaps at the continent level?

@exchrist EU, UK, Australia, Canada, NZ, then Korea and Japan, then maybe Brazil, Argentina and the rest of the democratic world need to grow teeth before the UN can be taken seriously
exchrist · 36-40
@Elessar the US needs to see consequences. I see it that as you noted everyone else will continue to have their teeth removed by America until they grow a pair.

It’s not just a one country problem.
What there needs to be is a self interest exclusion on voting.
When did Russia or China last not use their veto when it was in their interest.
exchrist · 36-40
@72andy or what if everyone has veto power that’s the other side of the coin!
72andy · 51-55, M
@exchrist then no decisions could ever be made
exchrist · 36-40
@72andy not much different than now! Currently no NEW decisions can be made. Which is to say it’s very difficult to enact any type of change in the current system.

Perhaps a temporary suspension of 5 years per $10 trillion in debt cancellation.
Convivial · 26-30, F
No one is going to give up 39 trillion for that🤣
exchrist · 36-40
@Convivial would anything less knock America off its high horse of “ultimate authority”?
Convivial · 26-30, F
@exchrist nope, sorry... Right now America is a cash cow for those that leant them the money in the first place... One trillion in interest each year.... That's serious money
exchrist · 36-40
@Convivial the petrodollar is the cash cow. If we can revert gasoline to an agricultural commodity oil extracted from hemp thc using ethanol; the all mighty dollar entwined with gasoline becomes the hardworking farmers of the world. Petrol dollars become labor hours and time. perhaps a new world currency would helpthe transition? Or each continent has its own single currency? Reorganizing financial systems to help everyone! America and preexisting debtors always seem to get preference, which obviously needs to change.
Let’s get loony!
