why in usa veterans are regarded as heroes instead of villians?

it's not like they fought for freedom. invading other countries for oil spreading death hate and misery throughout the world and still highly regarded by society? in developed and civilised countries the military doesn't have that reputation quite the contrary. police forces do. they defend the country. military doesn't

Hold up a minute.

They did their job, went where they were assigned to go... Putting their own lives at danger/risk.. Not knowing if they are going to make it home alive or in one piece..

I stress out at the thought of going on public transport..
