@SpudMuffin it was hitler that declared war on usa. if it wasn't for that usa wouldn't even had joined the allies. usa was just profiting big time from the war.
the US even allowed its companies to sell and ship goods, including materials for military production and oil, to Germany before and after US entry into the war, with shipments sometimes continuing via neutral flags even after 1941. Major American companies like Ford and General Motors had German subsidiaries (like Opel) that produced military equipment for the Nazi war effort, with Ford's factories in Germany using forced and slave labor.
