a silly thing that right-wing US SWeeps say

...is that if we're not American, we have no business expressing our views of the current American president. The idea being that American politics is Americans' business, only.

If only the president would stick to governing the USA, that might be valid. But in fact he is constantly messing around with other countries' business. Just the latest example in today's news: imposing sanctions on judges of the International Criminal Court, including one from my country, Canada.

If you really think that only people who can vote in US elections should have anything to say about the results -- give the whole world the vote. Because the results sure as hell affect all of us.

Everyone has the fundamental human right to his or her own thoughts on any topic and the right to express those thoughts.

Anyone who objects to that has a fundamental misunderstanding of the very basis of freedom and liberty in the American sense.

And, yes, I am happy to elaborate further (that means "explain") for anyone with questions. 😁
@sarabee1995 Not when it comes to criticizing another country that they don'tsupport from their taxes they don't have that right to any opinion.

@NativePortlander1970 So you are saying that America and Americans have no right to criticize other countries like Canada and Mexico and any of Europe or China or Russia?? We can't have even an opinion on any of them? Since when?
@sarabee1995 We support europe with OUR TAXES AND SOLDIERS, we have EVERY RIGHT to criticize them, they do NOT have the right to criticize us as WE SUPPORT THEM.

@NativePortlander1970 Dude!!!!

You do realize that the only NATO member to ever hit the panic button and invoke Article 5 calling on the alliance for help was us. Right?

11 September 2001

You remember that day, right? It wasn't a good one. But without question and without delay we had European jets flying combat air patrol missions up and down the east coast.

Then when we moved into Afghanistan in pursuit of Bin Laden and the Taliban, you do remember that was a NATO mission right? We had Canadians and Brits and many others right beside us over there.

As for us supporting Europe with our taxes.... Can you elaborate on that for me? I was active in the Navy in the European theater for 5.5 years and followed that working over in Europe for the DoD for two additional years. Please tell me how we are supporting them??? I'm all ears.

@sarabee1995 you know that I agree with you, I was actually stationed on active duty at the NATO Station in Keflavik, Iceland for 2 years. I did always wonder why it seemed as if the US was spending so much money supporting bases in Europe while it seemed the European countries had fewer commitments. But, I also felt that if we didn't, then USSR would just take over Europe and we would be back like WWII. MAGA people simply have no idea what they are talking about when they use whatever languages they care to when they try to show the US paying more than the other countries of the world.

@NativePortlander1970 You said we are supporting them. I'm still waiting for you to show me how we are supporting Europe??

Nothing you posted shows us providing a single dollar to a European partner nation.
