Border Patrol target TEENAGE US CITIZEN

Kenny was born and raised in the United States.

His mom was driving him and two other men to work doing landscaping when they were pulled over by a highway patrol officer. Kenny’s not sure why, because his mom wasn’t speeding.

The highway patrol officer called border patrol. When they arrived, one of the other men in the vehicle said he was illegally in the US, and then the border patrol officers started yanking people out of the car… including reaching in and putting one of the men in a chokehold.

The other men didn’t speak English, and didn’t understand what was being said to them. One of them got tasered. Throughout, Kenny is telling the officers not to do things the way they are. He keeps saying that they have rights, and that the officers are arresting them the wrong way.

The officers didn’t appear to realize that he was recording the entire thing until later, which is probably why Kenny was able to catch them on video telling him that he “has no rights here.”

And how he was able to catch them on audio laughing about the arrests, including laughing about tasering one of the men.

And how he managed to get one of them saying, “We’re going to end up shooting some of them.”

Kenny says that while he was being held at the Customs and Border Protection station for six hours, officers threatened to charge him if he refused to delete the video. He refused.

So they charged him for obstruction without violence. Kenny — who didn’t put anyone in a chokehold, didn’t taser anyone, and didn’t laugh about it, either — was sentenced to community service and a four-hour anger management course.

Kenny’s lawyer says the charges were retaliation for the video, which seems like a fair guess given that, according to Kenny, that’s exactly what the officers said they were going to do.

So Border Patrol is telling a US citizen that he has no rights here in the United States, which we know is false. US citizens have rights in the US.

But it would have been false even if Kenny had been an immigrant to the US. Immigrants also have rights in the United States.

It would have have been false if Kenny was an undocumented immigrant. Because undocumented people also have rights in the United States.

The Border Patrol officers know this, of course.

But this is what they say to immigrants when they think no one is listening.

This is what they do… sometimes whether people are watching or not.

Why?

Because they don’t think there will be any legal consequences. They don’t think they’ll be chastised by their bosses, or lose their jobs, or be suspended for a week.

And sure, they’d prefer that we not see the video, but at the end of the day they don’t think we’ll care.

I think they’re wrong.

I think it’s pretty difficult to watch the video below and not care about how these men are treated by the representatives of our government. But you can watch for yourself and see how you feel.

@MarineBob guilty by association is not a valid defense for violating the rights of a human being, much less a US Citizen.
@MarineBob i don’t think you understand the point of that phrase
