I had enslaved ancestors on July 4, 1776, and they were still enslaved afterwards. So while I can enjoy fireworks displays, get-togethers and barbecue, I admit the significance of the day itself has been largely lost on me.

@bijouxbroussard so all that stuff about 'all men being equal', and having the right to 'life, liberty the pursuit of happiness', that was all conveniently forgotten? I can see why it means nothing to you, I suspect you're not the only one.
