@BohemianBabe republic, form of government in which a state is ruled by representatives of the citizen body
BohemianBabe · M
@jehova But what is a "republican system of government" exactly?
It's a form of democracy where we elect our representatives, who in turn vote on policy.

@BohemianBabe elected officials voting on their constuients behalf.
jehova · 31-35, M
@BohemianBabe again democracy is voting on your own behalf every time on every issue. By electing a representative to represent you it becomes a republic. Bc the person elected is voting on all further issues on your behalf.
BohemianBabe · M
@jehova What you're describing is Direct Democracy. Also a form of Democracy, but not the only form.
jehova · 31-35, M
@BohemianBabe correct the moment representatives are elected it becomes an indirect democracy thus a republican form of government there being representative is what makes it a republic. A direct democracy is a democracy an indirect democracy is a republic. Yes.
