@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Does look like that....
Actually I think Russia would have a problem with the USA grabbing all of Greenland. They'd rather have it, and so would China.
Just don't mention Alaska to President Putin...

@ArishMell Putin recently said, "I don't have any problem with US acquiring Greenland". He knows he is too messed up to have a Two Front war.

@DanielsASJ I agree. Alternatively, he might see President Trump as sufficiently friendly for Russia and the USA to come to a cosy agreement over Greenland - and to Hell with the locals and Denmark.
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
@ArishMell Alternatively, he has expansionist policies which align with USA in keeping National security as surmount.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@DanielsASJ He might have that in mind, I don't know, but clumsy threats of expansionism would encourage existing enemies, perhaps create new ones; so endangering national security, not strengthening it.

@ArishMell I don't know how to explain but Greenland is much needed by USA, more than Russia needs Ukraine. If USA does not take it, it will be taken over by China. Every nation currently wants its base in Arctic region for there lies the key to further economic development.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@DanielsASJ Oh, I know that. It's no secret that Russia and China are sniffing around the Arctic too, and I realised what Trump had in mind when in his first term he rubbished climate-change and stated wanting Greenland. Not necessarily in the same speeches, but that would have been about as subtle as he gets.
However, Greenland is not an uninhabited islet in the Bering Strait, it is Danish but might want to be independent; and any take-over against the residents' wishes would be illegal as well as immoral.
Taking over Greenland is not in its residents' interest: the three powers' governments might find them useful as cheap, unskilled labourers but otherwise could not care less about them.
Nor in the island's enviromental interests: the same three powers could not care less about those either.
The USA does not "need" Greenland - or anywhere else. It just wants it, to exploit, without having to pay for it.
