Venus flytraps are native only to North America


They can be transplanted and grown in other places. They tend to fare poorly in truly tropical climates but love the subtropical Carolina wetlands. That's where they are from, the Carolinas.

In light of that, I think a name change is in order. We should call them American flytraps. Maybe Trump will get on that straightaway.

One summer I got a Venus flytrap and set it on a table on my covered deck. It wasn’t too hot that summer for it and I tended it carefully. Would go out there in the cool of the evening and feed it bugs we caught. That was a good summer and a very relaxing thing to do to get out of the house after dinner.
