@JimboSaturn My Post referred to
The dropping of standards for teachers here in the U.S, (NJ).Tell me what purpose that serves. I could be wrong but I doubt they do that in Canada.

@soar2newhighs And you believe that fact when it comes from such a ridiculous source?

@soar2newhighs https://www.nj.gov/education/certification/testing/basicskills/
Adrift · 61-69, F
@soar2newhighs He can't answer that because they dropped the standards on comprehension.

@JimboSaturn Do you live there and have kids in school?

@Adrift No, but you can easily look it up living in NJ or having school aged children there is irrelevant.

@Adrift But there are still basic facts though. Hey I can understand your problems with schools, I've had many criticisms of my daughters education. She went to a school where the teachers were lazy and apathetic. But doesn't that want you to strengthen our school system? I believe that every child should have a good education despite their income. Gutting the department of education will only weaken the schools and will not be helpful.

@JimboSaturn ROFL 🤣🤣🤣

Freedom Isn’t Free

As President Ronald Reagan reminded us, freedom is really never more than one generation away from extinction.

Freedom came from the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, shedding his blood at Calvary. Only on the basis of the freedom that Christ secured at the cross and the empty tomb are our political freedoms possible.

If history has taught us anything, it is that no civilization has experienced the greatest advancements in human freedom and human flourishing apart from a deep, abiding commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And no society that has enjoyed these advancements while forsaking their Christian heritage has ever retained their freedom.

I thought Christs kingdom was not of this world (John 18:36). So I don't think Jesus had worldly liberty in mind when he died on that cross. He just gave people a way to save themselves, as long as they believed in Him, they could go to heaven. But Christian Nationalism doesn't really like the bible that much.

... They also provide "Home Schooling"... I wonder how qualified these people are. Probably just as qualified as those priests they wanted to push into public school as "school counselors".

@Kwek00 Jesus said "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's , but render under God what is God's" I take this as a distinction between church and state.

@JimboSaturn One of my sons class assignments involved reading the Koran. I asked why they were not reading the Torah and the Christian bible too.
I mean if you have to be objective include them all.
Btw this was public school.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Adrift I have no idea about the curriculum. If they are taking a world religion course, they should learn all the religions. I assume they think that most kids know the bible already. Either way, I agree they should learn all.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Adrift What was the aim of the class?
Adrift · 61-69, F
@Kwek00 I am not exactly sure they included it with a bunch of other literature that they would be reading.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Adrift What was the name of the course?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Adrift You don't think that's it's important to know why they were reading part of the kuran?

... anyway, for me personally, after 3 chapters, you pretty much get the jist of what it's trying to do. It's great for a class on how you create a narrative that isolates your followers and promotes cultish behavior.

@Kwek00 I think it was a language arts class which was a required credit.
We used to have take three years English.
