Old man shouts at clouds

Reform UK leader and part time MP for Clacton on Sea, Nigel Farage, has labelled Greater Manchester Police's decision to close an investigation into allegations of voter coercion at February's Gorton and Denton by-election as "an establishment cover-up".

Farage made the allegations after his candidate lost by more than 4,000 votes to the Green Party. Allegations of "family voting" are frequently made against voters of Asian heritage.

GMP reviewed CCTV footage and took witness statements from four volunteer observers who were unable to provide descriptions of those allegedly involved or timings. No report of illegal behaviour was made to polling station staff on election day. The investigation was closed for lack of evidence.

Losing candidate Matt Goodwin (now inevitably known as "Matt Badloser") described the campaign as "sectarian". More independently minded observers point out that victory by a white working class woman representing a party led by a gay Jewish man in a constituency with a large Muslim minority may in fact be evidence of the success of cultural assimilation in modern Britain 💖 An inconvenient fact that Farage will be keen to ignore.

@Picklebobble2 He has been making us laugh for years, but for the sake of our children I don't want another tragi-comedy like Brexit.

Because I have autism with autistic children the far right give me anxiety! 😭😭😭 Bernie Sandars and AOC are my favourite politicians because they have compassion and empathy and both advocate for us to get Universal Healthcare! 😌😌😌 People like Trump and our far right Republican party or even Nigel Farage and the UK's far right Reform party scare me sooooooooo much! 😭😭😭
Obviously taken notes from his friend across the pond.

There really ought to be some negative consequences for making such false allegations.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@ninalanyon And we can look forward to similar sub-Trumpian antics in 649 other constituencies. Polling staff are specifically trained to spot and stop voter collusion. Not a single allegation was reported until after the polls had closed.

I dint think many even take much notice of him or cares about his silly views. It's like he doesn't count, so why bother?
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@Onthebeach That's a true reflection of my views and my friends, but I still hear and read a lot of people so disgruntled with their lives that somehow they think this shower has some answers for them. They seem to hate their own country and want to take that out on a particular, vulnerable group.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Onthebeach Hopefully this is the case, but don't let him slip in by virtue of apathy.

@FreddieUK The most lasting damage that Farage and co have inflicted on the country is the idea that modern life is a zero sum gain. If you are doing well, I must be paying for it somehow through higher taxes or a lower standard of living. This is a socially corrosive view of life which keeps us perpetually divided and at each others throats.
