An Afghan migrant who threatened to kill Nigel Farage in a Tiktok video has been jailed for 5 years

Fawaz Khan mimicked the "pop, pop, pop" sound of gunfire in a post that the UK Reform leader described as "pretty chilling".

Now that we have established that making violent threats online is unacceptable, I wonder if Reform will stop referring to Lucy Connolly, the woman who was jailed for 15 months last year for inciting rioters to burn down a migrant hostel, as Britain's "most famous political prisoner". 🤔

All lives matter.

He should have been deported. Now hes in jail he will get more radicalised. Its a waste of taxpayers money to house him in a jail. Boris Becker was jailed for fraud and then deported.
It won't be the end of Reform. As bad as the political views they hold, people should be held accountable for their actions. I don't think that Lucy Connolly single handedly caused the riots. More like the three innocent young girls brutally murdered in Southport. Tempers boiled over.

@jackjones68 One in one out is an agreement with France to speed up the processing of asylum claims. It is not the same as deportation.
@SunshineGirl He did travel from France. On a dinghy

@jackjones68 There is no argument about that. And before then he travelled from Sweden. But now he needs to be incarcerated and the offence was committed against UK law. So if he cannot be deported to his country of origin, he must remain here.

@ostfuidctyvm Possibly, but she made the decision to plea bargain rather than face a full jury trial. Having done so, the sentence was simply a matter of the judge weighing up tariffs.
@SunshineGirl Agreed

@geoam1 She was jailed. Elon Musk made her a cause celebre for his idea of free speech. After she was released during the summer she appeared as a keynote speaker at the Reform party conference and started talking nonsense about a "two tier" justice system.

@geoam1 She was suggesting that politicians had a hand in her sentencing. Turns out that threats of violence or incitement to violence are still pretty serious offences, even when conducted via social media.

Hardly like for like situations for a number of reasons.

@helsbels Which have been reflected in the respective lengths of sentences.

But the main point is that you have to take responsibility for what you say or publish online. The internet is not the free speech Wild West that Musk thinks it is.
