Why are cigarettes taxed more than coffee in UK?

Cigarettes have much more of a negative health impact, so it could be them using policy to curb the strain on the healthcare system. It's one reason why a lot of US cities and states are using a sugar tax. Trying to keep the fatties in line

@TinyViolins

As an American you can trust me when I say.......... it's not working. 😅
@TinyViolins This makes me want to smoke a cigarette.
Because they think that taxing the shizzle out of smoking will force more people to quit because they can't afford to pay shop prices.

The reality is that it forces more addicts to turn to black market suppliers and the illegal cigarette trade that they are trying to irradicate. At least, when people were buying over the counter, you knew that they met British safety standards...

Because more than 50% of Americans smoke. Higher demands means increasing prices.

Although Coffee is not an issue since it's free trade.

Honesty I'm a smoker, and I have no problem with this. 😎

Because its a healthier choice over vaccines. So they tax it more

Maybe because they're worse for your health
@caPnAhab Stress is worse, but a marijuana cigarette ends stress.

They're bad for you
