It filimed a long time ago, and set (and filmed) in a rural village unlikely to have any immigrant residents in that era. They congregate in the larger towns where they are more likely to find work and accommodation.
Given its location, I don't suppose there are many even now in the real Holmfirth used, and similar villages, unless professionals like doctors or solicitors, due to the high prices of homes in scenic, rural parts of England.

The show depicts rural Yorkshire in the 1970s and 1980s. Yorkshire County Cricket Club only contracted its first Asian professional in 1992 . .

@SunshineGirl It was filmed right up until 2010 and wasn't a time period series (like say Heartbeat that was just set in the 1960s) and Yorkshire cricket club was always notoriously racist in over looking Asian players which is why it took until 1992 for any to appear in the side...
The thing is some rural areas of West Yorkshire have a nearly all white population just the same as some inner city urban areas have a nearly all Asian population so it just depends where it is🤷🏼
