the recent mass onslaught of AI slop overtaking YouTube has made me start muting channels left and right and pretty much avoiding anything that isn't a known music video, because I don't want to invest the time and effort into vetting every single non-music channel as authentic or not

but then I also more generally prefer to consume news from an aggregator like Google News, never social media (including YouTube)

using social media as a news source is why things like conspiracy theories are on the rise, because any random yahoo without any expertise in anything (or a bot account) is now regarded as a legit source by some
