NEVER!
Putin actually wanted Russia to join NATO back in 2000.
Putin actually wanted Russia to join NATO back in 2000.
“Putin said: ‘When are you going to invite us to join Nato?’ And [Robertson] said: ‘Well, we don’t invite people to join Nato, they apply to join Nato.’ And he said: ‘Well, we’re not standing in line with a lot of countries that don’t matter.’”

@ElwoodBlues Putin in 2000 was totally fresh , in 1999 he was saying Crimea was rightfully part of Ukraine.

@Khenpal1 putin says a lot of things - all of it opportunistic, deceptive, and self-serving.
Lie after lie after lie after...
Sound familiar?

@newjaninev2 Trump says the same , difference is Putin wraps the lies up .

Yes, Putin was fresh and naive in 2000 wanting to join NATO, not knowing purpose of NATO is against Russia.
ElwoodBlues · M
@ABCDEF7 Actually, the purpose of NATO is collective defense thereby ensuring peace in the region. NATO only opposes Russia when Russia threatens said peace.
In the case of Ukraine, Putin was violating the three-way treaty known as the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.
Essentially, Ukraine agreed to give up all its nuclear weapons to Russia in exchange for safety from a U.S. or Russian invasion. Russia's invasion of Ukraine violates that treaty. And as a signatory to that 1994 Budapest Memorandum, the U.S. has a definite interest in righting Putin's current wrongs.
Russia promised specifically NOT to invade Ukraine, and the U.S. promised specifically to ASSIST Ukraine if the treaty were ever violated. And that's what the U.S. had been doing until tRump trashed the treaty and switched to appeasement.

In the final version of the deal, Russia promised not to attack Ukraine. While the U.S. and the U.K. assured Ukraine they would aid if it was attacked by Russia, that promised aid did not guarantee military support like a NATO country would receive.
In 2009, Russia and the U.S. announced that the assurances in the Budapest Memorandum would continue to remain in effect in the future.

It was with a condition that Ukraine should not go for joining NATO. So when Zelensky wanted to join NATO, Putin warned, but Zelensky ignored and Putin attacked. So Zelensky himself is responsible for the attack. Ukraine is a buffer zone between NATO and Russian, if Ukraine joins NATO the buffer zone will be removed and the conflict is bound to happen.

The link I provided above links to the full text of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum; here is the text link.
https://treaties.un.org/doc/Publication/UNTS/Volume%203007/Part/volume-3007-I-52241.pdf
It's very easy with a browser to load the PDF and search for the string 'NATO.' Hint: it doesn't appear in the treaty.
Hence your claim "It was with a condition that Ukraine should not go for joining NATO" is easily disproven. QED.
P.S.: if you think some other part of the treaty carries that meaning, please be so good as to post a quote of the part of the treaty that you believe says anything similar. I'll wait for your quote.

@ElwoodBlues Lol.. Why would someone proof themselves to be having malice intentions in their own documentation. Have you found a cheater company to mention their intention to cheat people in their Memorandum of Association (MoA) or Articles of Association (AoA)?
There is something called secret agenda. Use your brain to understand basic logical thing. See the actions on ground.
There are things that western media never want people to know. They brainwash people and make their thinking biased. That is why I have shared that video to understand the complete picture.

@ABCDEF7 Your comment makes no sense. Just because a talking head says something on YouTube, that doesn't make it true!
You asserted
You asserted
It was with a condition that Ukraine should not go for joining NATO.
I proved that assertion to be false. There is no such condition in the treaty. Hence Russia's invasion of Ukraine was indeed a violation of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. QED.
