I am hoping and praying for the normal, everyday people of Turkey who are now homeless in the middle of winter, who have no heat, no running water, and no food. I hope and pray that ALL who remain alive continue to survive...they don't need even one more thing to go wrong right now.

@4meAndyou no they don’t. I’m sure there are shelters opening up for them, but it’s going to be so harsh with losing everything except maybe their vehicles in these earthquakes. Over 1500 buildings totally destroyed and so many others that are unstable to the point where people are not safe going inside to get their belongings. Even if a building doesn’t look damaged if it has a flat roof and it rains there may be tiny cracks on top of the roof where water can seep in and get into the concrete and cause roof to collapse killing people inside.

@cherokeepatti Perhaps the EU and the USA will donate those big tents, like those we use to house the illegals. That could be one solution.

@4meAndyou they need wood-burning tent stoves to heat the tents. I follow a couple that camps every week in Turkey, they have a lot of different tents and also vehicles they use for camping and they camp in all seasons driving to scenic areas near lakes and in mountains. I think their favorite tents are the easiest ones to set up. They bring an air compressor and inflate the tent, part of it inflates so the tents stand up, they put them over a plastic tarp and stake it down. Then they bring in rolled carpets and lay them down, bring their mattresses and inflate them, their little tent stove, folding tables & chair, etc. It is a glamping set-up. They stay warm even in the coldest weather as long as they have wood to burn in the stove and they use the stove and another cooker to cook on.

@cherokeepatti Of course it's not safe to burn wood in an enclosed tent, but we used to have a tent heater that worked safely. We used to cold weather camp, because at that time, I had two dogs and I wanted to let them run free with no leashes for once in their lives.

@4meAndyou It is safe and other campers are doing it. It is a tiny wood stove. If someone is worried about CO2 they can get a battery-powered CO2 detector. Much safer than freezing to death.

@cherokeepatti Yeah, that's what I would worry about...although I have seen ice fishing shacks and even yurts with a hole in the roof and a small pipe vent covered with a cone of tin.
