Warren Buffet sold 90% of his stake in TSMC a few weeks ago (Taiwan Semiconductor)

he bought in 3rd quarter of 2022 and sold a few months later in Feb 2023.

Shares of TSMC dropped 6% early Wednesday after Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway dumped most of its stake just months after buying the Taiwanese chipmaker's stock.

The sale, which was disclosed in fourth-quarter 13F filings late Tuesday, made up roughly 86% of the Omaha-based firm's position.

It also marked an unusually quick turnaround for Buffett's company, which typically holds onto investments for years instead of a few months.

Berkshire Hathaway first revealed its $4.1 billion stake in TSMC on November 14. It's now down to about $618 million.

When big money is cashing out..

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout the mans got connection. No question about that.
When Buffet buys it is usually in big enough denominations that the simple act of him dumping that much cash into one stock can make that one stock price rise dramatically. That lets other big fund managers look at that stock like it is the one to buy too...if it is rising in value that fast. So Buffet buys and waits........as other rush in the stock prices rises more and then Buffet cashes out. Even if each stock just make him $5 in profit.........consider how much profit he made if he bought 5 million shares initially.

This is no "indicator" of Taiwan's future..........or it's viability economically. It simply means Buffet bought right and made money selling. Period.

@MaBalzEsHari I don't trust China in not invading. If a war were to break out...it could very well become a worthless investment.

@MaBalzEsHari the world markets will tank if a war were to break out...that is a distinct possibility. And it will be one bloody war. It would not end well for either side.
This whole human ego has to be recalibrated.
@Ferric67 The threat of war is the perpetual Boogie Man. In the 1950's------McCarthy hunted don the commies that were about to make war on us. In the 60's and 70's kids were taught to hide under their desks because the Ruskies was going to bomb us any second. In the 80-'s the Cold War. And now war "IS" going on in Ukraine and we're in for all practical purposes against the Boogie Man.......Russia..........and guess what.........the markets and we are just fine. If a war does break out from here on...........odds are there will be very little blood and a whole lot of AI and cyber warfare.

I know, that doesn't hold well for the world...does it.
As a matter of fact, when his stake was originally announced in November it made me question whether or not they would pull out of the investment with an imminent threat to Taiwan 🇹🇼
