That idea of, "we should take care of own first," "we should fix our problems first," "we should only think of ourselves, first" is really code words among those who have been manipulated into thinking that those who don't look like us, smell like us, and have hair like ours, must not be as human as we are. Donald Trump and those he has so easily manipulated with his hypnotic suggestions (of repeating each of his lies 3 times in each teleprompter-read speech) is truly making America "grate" (NOT great) again...

He has a point...admittedly he does want to build a wall etc.

But don't you think it should be better to fix your OWN countries problems before you fork out millions or even billions to fix other countries problems?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
The sad truth (not fiction) is other country's problems ARE our problems. In case you haven't noticed, we all live on the same planet and for the time being it's the only planet that can sustain any of us. So, while you may feel so (SO) superior by lazily falling into the silly school girl notion that we should just let other countries suffer alone, their suffering will always affect us.

If you think our foreign policy is built on some misdirected love for everyone else, you must have failed basic history (and critical thinking). When we provide foreign aid it's to protect our interests first and foremost. You don't need to pretend to be selfish; we already think mostly of ourselves. And, that's not necessarily a criticism; it's an indictment on the masses who can't seem to understand what our strategy really is.

I'm not saying let them suffer, I'm saying maybe you should pay back some of that debt you owe everyone, fix the problems on YOUR side before you try going "world police" on us.

It's what us in the UK should've done a LONG time ago, now are economy is crap and wwere wading in illegal immigrants.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Without us as the world's police, you in the UK in particular would be even worse off. And, your economy is crap because instead of using your mind, you allowed yourself to be manipulated by your versions of D. Trump and voted to exit the EU only to find out none of those pied pipers told you the truth. You did it to yourselves, but instead of taking any responsibility you want to blame refugees and any others you can tag as scapegoats. Aren't you able to learn ANYTHING from World War II?
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
Problem is we DO have a bad illegal immigrants situation. We were not able to fix it in the EU and being in the EU effected us on a security level, we were not allowed to control our borders at all, we were not allowed to pursue our own trade agreements, what was free trade become control, control of us, our borders and our economy, now tell me, were you in our situation, what would you have done? Stayed with a system thats fucked us for decades?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
But you are worse off now... what don't you get? So, by using linear thinking... only being able to concentrate on how crappy you thought things were and blindly listening to the power-hungry ego maniacs who promised you change, you neglected to STOP and THINK about what change you really needed. Now, you have successfully voted for the type of change that can only make things EVEN worse.

Your currency is the worst performing one since the vote (and because of the vote). The leaders of Brexit have run away and are hiding. The latest best estimate is that "a ton" of new government bureaucrats will be needed to now individually negotiate trade agreements around the world, and it will take at least 2 years for all this to happen. YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING but make things worse. How are you any better off? And, blaming immigrants isn't going to help you other than to artificially make you feel superior for a few moments.
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
You do know we'll still be trading with the EU right? It's not like because we left they won't talk to us, it's just we need to get things cleared up first, then we can pursue our own endeavours, if our economy worsens it'll force us to invest in industry again, the one that was ruined when we joined the EU, if we can at least start selling stuff again (Other than pencils and chairs) we can improve, it hasn't been that long and it's a big step for us.

But just saying, you should be more worried about whats on your side, you're screwed either way, on one side you've got Trump...on the other you have Hilary. Neither of them seem any good, sure they have their pros, but the cons are scary, for everyone.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
I would have stayed with a system and modified it... not run away from it with no plan, purpose, or thought on how the change would effect everything else including the future. You have pinned all your hopes, dreams, and wishes on "change" without considering what change you really need. And, if your point of view had any merit, poll after poll after poll would not be revealing the second thoughts the majority of people now have about the exit they selected. In the end, the people always get the government, leadership, and politicians they deserve. Don't worry though, we will be there to protect your selfish interests when you come crying for help.
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
That "system" has been modified for years...it was never going in our favour, yes we got to say we had free trade...as long as it was just in the EU, then you've got to think about where it would go, they really wanted borders to be very open, they might have integrated the "client" nations together to make just Europe, the EU is an outdated system, we're in need of a new one it's just the EU wouldn't say that of course, staying would only fuck us in the future.

Oh and don't play the arrogant American card, just...don't xD
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
I am less worried about "this" side since our system is expressly designed to limit the impact that any one individual can have at any given time because of our past history with your country. As for "your" side, your future is even bleaker than your present. If you think you can remain "pure" and prosperous, you are living in times when the sun really never did set on the Empire. Already, investors (companies and individuals with money), immigrants (smart ones), and those who are interested in a "real" future see the writing on the wall and looking for other countries that have a more modern day attitude and welcoming environment. The idea that you have somehow gained control of your own destiny is a myth that will play out in unmerciful proportions. You have no idea what you are in for and my guess is, you (personally) will be among the first to find a new scapegoat group to blame rather than owning the bad decision you (personally) and others made. Best of luck though...
