Türkiye blocks Russian cruise ship from Istanbul port 🤣🤣🤣

Turkish authorities have denied a Russian cruise ship to dock at a port in Istanbul, forcing the vessel carrying 616 passengers to wait off the coast for hours before returning to the Black Sea.

The Astoria Grande, which arrived at Istanbul’s renowned Galataport on the evening of Nov. 19 to disembark passengers, remained anchored off Sarayburnu district for several hours after failing to receive approval from Turkish maritime authorities.

Following the prolonged delay, the cruise liner set sail back to the Russian city of Sochi, media reports said.

I hope those poor(!) Russian passengers get a partial refund for their missed excursion.

Just imagine that those tourists from the Russian nomenklatura paying mountains of Rubles to visit the Hagia Sofia, the Topkapi Palace and covered bazaar to sample some real Turkish coffee and baklava are now stranded in a country they wanted to escape from in the first place...

They have close relations. This sounds like a PR stunt . Maybe the cruise line didn’t pay docking fees in advance or some other reason.

@ArishMell Turkey isn't yet* an EU member, they're a NATO one though. And I guess so long as they have Erdogan they have no chance of getting in the union, it would be indeed another Hungary

@RachelLia2003 A NATO member, anyway. But it's a rough relationship. Turkey was denied the F-35 program. They took the drone route before the US did, though.
