I really believe that some don't understand that Russia is another country with their own rules. Don't like 'em? Don't go there, and especially not with anything that could even remotely make them look at you funny. None of us have the advantage of being a public figure or sports star, which will undoubtedly get her out or a reduced sentence following her appeal, even a prisoner swap. Even if she does time, she's coming out with TV deals, book deals, she'll be on top of the world. And I hope she does get out soon.
I hope the OP is not suggesting that we actually sacrifice lives over someone's incarceration, which, after ouremotional responses are done, leave only rationality. She broke the law, period. She can very well do her time. No one should lose their lives over it.

@uncalled4 stop suggesting that i am suggesting anything. this is as stupid as that kid getting Caned several years ago. People who break the law in other countries should be sent back to their country and not allowed to enter the country again that they broke the law in. She should not be imprisoned for one moment in another country. and for such a stupid thing? it is ludicrous.

@DIABLISS The kid from Singapore? I remember that. Another genius. He broke their laws, so they meted out their punishment, simple as that. And you didn't suggest anything, you literally said "tell Russia we will now go to war". Maybe we disagree on there being consequences for actions. We both know that foreigners who commit crimes in other countries aren't merely ejected; let's not even open that can of worms. So we have different viewpoints, no big deal.

@AthrillatheHunt it was damaging and ludicrous and antiquated. no one learns anything from violence because they did something wrong

@DIABLISS here in USA we preach (but don’t practice ) rehabilitation along with punishment .
Other countries only focus on punishment. The people that live in those countries know how their laws work. And BTW Singapore has a longer list of people wanting to immigrate their than like any other country (based on population numbers ).
Many people WANT to live in places with those kinds of laws .
Our opinions don’t matter.

@DIABLISS did you say they lured her there ?
Every WNBA player who plays in Russia attends a seminar beforehand where they are briefed on dos and do nots in Russia . They are also told of the penalties if they break a law .
She attended such a seminar . It’s a sad situation all around but no talk of personal responsibility and choices .

@DIABLISS they offered her a well paying job. Do you think Chase Bank “lures” people to work for them too ?
