It amazes me how scared of Russia everyone was. “A great Superpower” We’ve seen just how ineffective and disorganized the Russian army actually is now.
Let’s just hope they don’t choose the “Nuclear Option” as a last resort.

@ShadowWolf There was intelligence they could only do small to medium incursions. The problem is they decided to invade a country the size of Texas against an army trained for this very event.
@ShadowWolf the same corruption that keeps putin is power is the reason why the army sucks so bad

@Strawberrry Everyone skimmed I’ve heard form experts. No civilian oversight…a paper tiger.

@Human1000 They didn’t know their enemy either. I guess they didn’t read “The Art of War” not just the landmass of Ukraine, but the peoples resolve was incredible. Morale is important during a war. Ukraine has morale for days. Russian soldiers… not so much…

@Strawberrry Rule through fear is rarely successful long term.

@ShadowWolf Indeed. I wonder if Putin never got good intelligence. The Russians are famous for their intelligence services. Hmmmm….
@ShadowWolf also russia completely underestimated the public opinion in europe... they counted on a continuation of an appeasement politics where they would not interfere like with crimea or georgia.

well russia has awoken a terrible beast... europeans basically over night giving up a decade long tradition of pacifism with a lot of population almost itching for the nato to join the war and march towards moscow...
thats a sentiment that was unthinkable 6 month ago... and i fear it wont go away again

@Strawberrry Ya… the Russians chose to do a land invasion the size of which not seen since the Blitzkrieg, and they expected no pushback 😂 Russias plan completely backfired. Instead of weakening NATO, NATO has become stronger and more military ready Europewise. Europe has been pacifist due to being sick of multiple centuries of constant war. NATO showing unity is important, but a march would be foolish at this juncture. That would trigger WW3. Ukraine can emerge victorious. There is a path to their victory.

@ShadowWolf Russia is not a superpower in any sense other than its nuclear arsenal. While everything sounds good on paper. The operational capabilities have always fallen short of specs and the personnel are not consistently up to standard, as has been born out in the Ukraine. 😷
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@whowasthatmaskedman While that may be true from 1985ish-Present, I disagree that it wasn’t a superpower during WW1 and WW2. Many people had the notion that Russias might persisted to the 21st century. Mostly because it hadn’t flexed for so long. Now it’s flexed, and we see it’s all flabby 😂

They'd probably screw that one up as well with a dud or two.

Exactly. Finland's and Sweden's populations now majority pro-NATO and seriously considering joining. This is precisely what Putin did not want to happen, yet he brought it about all by himself.

@ShadowWolf I accept that Russia rose to the status of a Superpower with its industiral might in WW2 and almost kept pace as the USSR until the break up, but was falling behind even then. Since then of course the development and productivity have fallen away. To keep superpower status a nation needs to be able to project that influence well outside its borders. While I grant that Russia has lately been trying that, the results are mixed at best. Indeed Chinas methods are bearing much more fruit.😷

@ShadowWolf "was?" America is still afraid of Russia.
