Both the US and Russia have a habit of installing leaders that are favorable to their country and its interests, so it's entirely possible within the realm of political fuckery. If Trump or one of his copycats comes into office soon, which is a very likely outcome given the unregulated dysfunction of social media algorithms, then a pro-Russian president isn't such a farfetched notion
