Ireland is the European country with the most pro-Palestine support.

As a Brit, I wonder why.

Anecdotally, the Irish are amongst the most indoctrinated to leftist obsessions in my personal experience.
SW-User
@SumKindaMunster in your opinion, is leftism akin to indoctrination?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@SW-User No, but one of the things that is readily apparent is that the extreme liberal left is just as indoctrinated as the extreme right, with your own inaccurate obsessions and unchallenged assumptions.

Too many on the left are in bubbles of group think, they don't see this as they might have 20 years ago.

@SumKindaMunster when your under english colonisation, the chances of supporting any kind of Conservatism is rather unlikely

@SumKindaMunster well, you can claim that the extreme left (of which I am not) is guilty of groupthink, but none of my “assumptions” on this site have been challenged with any serious rebuttals. Insults are not a rebuttal. I would welcome an actual intelligent debate on one of my posts. No luck so far
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@SW-User I take exception to that. You're idea of a debate is to plant a flag in a hill and demand others knock you down.

That's not how serious debate works.

You show empathy and consideration to the other persons viewpoint, whether or not you agree, and you respond relevantly to those points.

You don't lie and modify your words and then gaslight people into believing you didn't.
You don't respond disingenuously ignoring what the other person said.
You don't argue your own personal opinion as fact and then attack others for not agreeing with your personal opinion.

You've done all those things with me alone, in your short time here.

@SumKindaMunster I don’t lie, I don’t modify my words (beyond editing for spelling), and I have been here for years (under many pseudonyms, including three others right now). I attack others when they respond with insults, or reply with completely unsubstantiated assertions.

And give me one instance where I have lied.

@SW-User In this post, you mentioned Trump initially, then you edited it after I chided you for bringing him up.

You say you've been here for years under various pseudonyms, yet you also were taken aback and shocked when someone blocked you, so much so that you had to make a post about it.

While I don't know 100% for sure you are lying, someone who has been here before would not have been shocked or surprised to be blocked by a conservative poster on here, that's par for the course. It's a sure sign you are new here.

Also, you haven't provided any evidence of these supposed other pseudonyms when asked.

So consider this my last relevant reply to you.

I'm not sure if its anger or fear or a combination of both, but you have demonstrated yourself to be a liar, fake, hypocrite gaslighter and I for one, will not be taking you seriously any longer.

Have a great weekend liar. 😘

@Guitarman123 Don't agree, I live in a former British colony and there are millions of conservatives here.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@SumKindaMunster james connoly is one of the most famous examples. He was an Irish republican socialist, who was strongly influenced by marxs writing's. Connoly was also one of the main founders of the iww organisation

@SumKindaMunster Much as I'd like the Irish to be all leftists, that is far from the case.

Within the EU, Ireland is known as a tax haven and undercuts other countries to get corporations to base themselves there. It's also run by two mainstream political parties who make up the traditional Irish elite: Educated in Trinity College Dublin or Oxford or Cambridge. It is neoliberal economically and there was a political consensus for savage cuts in welfare and public services after the 2008 financial crash.

However, Sinn Fein, the most Irish of Irish parties certainly does lean to the left and they are a significant force now.

In addition, the Irish historical memory is conditioned by the experiences of being oppressed subjects of British colonial rule. The Easter Rising and bloody Sunday (both of them) are important events in Irish history. So, even their conservative leaning politicians have to pay at least lip service to having sympathies for other colonised peoples and their actual left proudly wear Palestinian flags.

@Burnley123 Thanks. Some of this I knew, some I did not.

I am 1/4 Irish, my grandmother was born here to Irish immigrants.
