Palestinian death toll rises to 1500.

This in a few days of bombs and missiles into civilian areas. This is before the ground offensive starts and before or the health system collapses. Two things that are about to happen.

This is likely to result in tens of thousands of deaths and many more due to starvation and disease. This is before we get to life changing injuries, which will be tens of thousands again.

I'm not shedding a tear for the Hama's fighters who targeted civilians but I am for everyone else. If a whole population must be made collectively responsible for the actions of their government then, well I deserve to die. By logical extension, I must be responsible for the Iraq war, Brexit and all the poverty caused by Tory austerity policies.

Do we value all lives equally? If we do, then we should be all be condemning the actions of the Israeli state.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Hamas were in control because they were voted in by those people i believe?

@Convivial Are you responsible for all the actions of your government. Personally, I wouldn't want to be.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Burnley123 if i vote that government in knowing their agenda, then yes i must bear some responsibility for they're actions

@Convivial In Palestine you get the choice between corrupt pretend socialists and islamic militants. Also, the bombs don't discriminate

@Convivial The problem with that reasoning is that those who oppose a totalitarian government would still be treated identically to those who do. Let's not be surprised that totalitarianships are growing like mushrooms pretty much everywhere, if the message we want to pass is that whether you support or not support the totalitarian govt in your region you deserve a missile.

@Elessar which leads to a whole other discussion...

@Convivial do you want to be a target just because the US government made enemies? I believe the US collectively announced that our citizens are terrified by that prospect. You know being murdered because of people you don't necessarily like or trust. But yeah lets murder more children and call it justice.

@Convivial I remember seeing a video of a journalist who went around asking Israel what they thought of Palestinians and some of what was said towards Palestinians reminded me of what Nazi's said to justify their hatred of Jewish people. I can find the video if you want cos I remember being really sad because of the open hostility towards Palestinians.

If you think about, it's natural for people to vote for Hamas considering Israel's views of Palestinians. To be fair, I don't think Palestinians thought that it would come to this, I just think that Hamas was a group that supported the cause and people voted because it gave them a sense of security.

I don't think most really know what Hamas was capable of, I think they were just voting cos Hamas was the only group with real power.

@SatanBurger please, Israel is the one who uses Nazi tactics. They cram Palestinians into ghettos, deprive them of humanity and all basic amenities and shoot them or worse when they stray too far from their prison. No I'm not talking about Poland in the 1940's. Thats Gaza and the West Bank today in 2023.

@SatanBurger just to be clear... There is wrong on both sides... Israel is taking land that doesn't belong to them, and making the next generation of terrorist in the process.... Hamas was wrong with their attack.
Most people on both sides, just want to live in peace and enjoy life.
This tit for tat approach serves only to prolong the agony on both sides

@Convivial Israel started it. It turns out people get touchy when you force them from whats been their ancestral home for generations. I'm Cherokee, so I take that shit, plus the slow systematic murder of the displaced people very seriously.
