Dutch health care

To be honest, I used to be one of those people who defended the Dutch healthcare system. "Oh, the level of care is actually fine!" I’d say. Well, the universe heard me, laughed, and struck me down.Since Saturday, I have been permanently trapped on my couch like a human pretzel with what feels like a severely pinched nerve or cruralgia. I’m sleeping about two hours a night, I am completely useless, and my spine is staging a violent protest.Yesterday morning at 8:00 AM, I decided to do the responsible thing and call my huisarts. Because of a current medical treatment, I absolutely cannot take standard over-the-counter anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen. I simply called to ask what targeted nerve pain prescription would be safe for me, and explicitly told the receptionist, "Hey, I literally cannot move my body." She said she’d check with the GP and hung up.So, I waited. And waited. In absolute, blinding agony. I even called my local pharmacy like a desperate ex, hoping a rogue prescription had magically appeared in their system. Nothing. Silent radio.I called the clinic back this morning to ask again , and you cannot make this up: it turns out they had scheduled a physical appointment for me yesterday... and just forgot to tell me. 😡 No phone call, no text, no carrier pigeon. Just an invisible appointment that I "missed" while being completely immobilized. The best part? They still want me to come in today. Because apparently, when a patient says "I physically cannot stand up, walk to a bus, " the clinic's administrative brain translated that into: "Perfect, see you at 2:00 PM!"

If you should experience loss of bladder control along with the pinched nerve, please call an ambulance so you can be taken to emergency care.

Call an ambulance and get transported to an emergency department. You may face a wait there as low priority. But it starts the wheels..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman It’s very painful but not life threatening. I am getting a medicalized cab to go to the gp this afternoon. Dies irae mother fuckers 😂
