I remember when I was a child talking to my dad about his career (he was a USMC fighter pilot) and he told me that you can win with air power - but: "you still have to stand on the ground you've taken." There's no real way to beat Iran without ground troops. You can do whatever you want from the air, but as long as they still stand on that ground, they haven't really lost. And that's pretty much our enemies' strategy these days - outlast us. It's worked well for them ever since Vietnam.

@Alyosha And putting troops on the ground is certain path to defeat for America. Those troops will aotomatically become targets and casualties as soon as they are in rifle range..😷

You mean, it's worked well for them ever since the War of 1812, Vietnam, Panama, Iraq, Afghanistan and now Iran will prove to be one more bad experience that the US military can add to it's list of lost wars that America started.

I seriously doubt it, Iran has too many sanctions for too many years to acquire a stockpile of weaponry, though they have a lot not as much as the US.

Israel and Iran have never made it a secret of wanting each other to collapse, and they are consistent in that; but the USA's aim seems to change every week.
There is no sign that the Iranian rule will collapse. It is undeniably deeply fascist and belligerant; but like some other totalitarian states, its system is designed for continuity even with heavy losses of sennior politicians and officials.
If it did though, what will replace it? A chaotic, barely-habitable mess ripe for exploitation by Russia, China and brigands like ISIS or the Taliban?

The thing people forget to do is set the conditions for Victory before things get out of hand. All Iran has to do to "win". Is survive. America has to change things in a way that is specifically favourable to them. My money is on Iran..Short of Israel nuking the place..Then I think the world will have much bigger problems..😷

@BobbySpeedy I believe the nuclear thing was an excuse. Not a reason. In fact I believe America has bought the risk of a radioactive retaliation on American soil much closer in the form of a dirty bomb or three set off in US cities..They can now recover enough radioactive waste from the bombed sits to make one or more..😷
