Statement by Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom

Presse- und Informationsamt der Bundesregierung (BPA)
As members of NATO, we are committed to strengthening Arctic security as a shared transatlantic interest. The pre-coordinated Danish exercise „Arctic Endurance“ conducted with Allies, responds to this necessity. It poses no threat to anyone.

We stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Denmark and the people of Greenland. Building on the process begun last week, we stand ready to engage in a dialogue based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity that we stand firmly behind.

Tariff threats undermine transatlantic relations and risk a dangerous downward spiral. We will continue to stand united and coordinated in our response. We are committed to upholding our sovereignty.

@bijouxbroussard 2/3 seem to like this stuff, unfortunately
@Elessar

In the 2024 general election, approximately 85.9 million eligible voters did not cast a ballot, which represents about 36.3% of the eligible voting population. This means that the voter turnout was around 63.7%.

@bijouxbroussard Exactly. 1/3 explicitly like this and 1/3 implicitly, a non vote pretty much equals to saying "both options are good enough for me"

Trump doesn't like NATO as it doesn't unilaterally advantage the USA, so he'll probably remove the USA from it

Whilever the USA remains as part of NATO he kind of has a chokehold over the rest of NATO as a military or diplomatic takeover of Greenland creates a situation where one NATO member triggers the other NATO members into potential military retaliation.

If Trump pulls the USA out of NATO, then NATO as a unit can militarily attack the USA without fear or favour if the USA attempts to usurp Greenland for it's own political, military, and commercial purposes.

If NATO and the US split, the US will automatically lose the right to place bases on the forward front of the Russian border. That may not matter of course if Putin has already agreed that he won't do anything as long as he's allowed to have all his old Soviet countries back. An agreement like that between Trump and Putin will work as well as the one between Hitler and Stalin.

@FreddieUK Putin seems hell-bent to re-form the USSR one 'defector' at a time. Trump seems hell-bent on propping up his own wealth and nothing else. At least Musk isn't president as he would replace the entire government with Grok AI including the military.

Looking at r/conservative if they aren't all Chinese/Indian/Russian bots, they seem to be confused at the tariff action by trump as well
