Just the latest example of the French being....French.

The French President doing what the French are famous for doing - Waving the white flag.

Just as well Australia cancelled the French Subs. They might be unwilling to support them in the event of war with China.
Macron plans to be the next Napoleon. Damn I will have to renumber my house.
I never used to believe the stereotype about French people always surrendering, and Gino never fighting but now that macron has gone to kiss the ring of the CCP. I guess I was wrong..😢

France has surrendered to China ? There was a war ?

@LegendofPeza If Macron feels stifled by US hegemony he should ask Pakistan, Sri Lanka or Myanmar how they feel about Chinese hegemony. I'll give you a hint, none of these were failed states before they joined China's team. Why can’t France be on France team and not China’s team or US team? Because France claims to be speaking for Europe but it isn't 30+ countries, it is one.

@Khenpal1 I'm struggling to follow you here. What exactly is it that you want France to do ?
Khenpal1 · M
@LegendofPeza Not being French 😂

@Khenpal1 I can understand why you laugh at your own jokes.

@Khenpal1 Because Europe is 30+ countries, each with their own foreign relations. Also France doesn't have a great reputation for foreign policy. I'm not sure the even the majority of Europe wants to France leading here. If you don't know what I'm talking about look at TLDR News or CaspianReport videos on the CFA Franc.

@LegendofPeza Always in it, just at different depths.😁

@Khenpal1 Macron wasn't speaking for Europe , Ursula von der Leyen was in her capacity as the President of the European Commission.

For the French , the trip to China was essentially a trade mission. Macron was accompanied by over 50 French business leaders from a wide array of industries and France and China signed several economic agreements involving major companies in sectors such as transport, energy, agriculture, culture and science.

If you want to bash the French then that's your prerogative , but don't try and dress it up as something that it's not.

@LegendofPeza Macron said, “The worse thing would be to think that we Europeans must become followers on this topic and take our cue from the U.S. agenda and a Chinese overreaction,” he added. German Christian Democrat MP and former head of the Bundestag’s foreign affairs committee, tweeted that Macron had “managed to turn his China trip into a PR coup for [Chinese President Xi Jinping] and a foreign policy disaster for Europe.” Well, Macron's vision for the EU doesn't fit Europe.

There is no support among the population for further centralisation and there is no enthusiasm for being governed by a far-off bureaucracy. The French want to make Europe into a dam that protects Europe against the rest of the world. But it's primarily France that the dam protects. Or more accurately, it shields France.

The French don't like the free market, don't like trading. The French look to the state, l'Etat. They want the EU to reinstate their vanishing political grip on the economy.
