St George’s Day

April 23rd! St George’s day. Patron saint of England. Shakespeare’s birthday! Crowds thronging the streets wearing the red and white of St George drinking warm beer, special programmes on the radio, Shakespeare Night dinners!

Not.

Not a bloody thing as usual. The streets were thronged with the wearing of the green on St Patrick’s day. The haggis was wheeled out for Honest Sonsie Face night but as usual nobody bothers with anything to do with actual England.

End of grump for today.

I don't. And I don't like the sight of the English flag unless it's during the World Cup.

Most English people don't know when it is

How did you celebrate it? Unfortunately owing to the recent mis-use of the St George cross by political extremists, the English part of my identity is something I'm less comfortable in expressing publicly these days 🇬🇧 🇵🇱 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
