Like I've said, you give them an inch, they take a mile.

A government on edge is also more likely to shoot people in return though.
For what it's worth however it's actually very easy to get hold of guns in the UK provided you're a) actually British, b) not mad or a serious criminal and c) have a half-decent reason to have one. (Handguns are, generally, illegal though I'll grant but not in Northern Ireland actually. Though it's also perfectly legal, if properly licensed, to own all kinds of ridiculous weapons like tanks if you can actually get your hands on one).
And self-defence isn't a reason to have a gun in this country because you don't need it for self-defence because generally no one is going to break into your house with a gun in the first place. I think we'd all rather be imprisoned for a "non crime hate incident" tweet than shot for one.

@Ferise1 Aren't you Australian? He's your king too.
Besides, I would trust the king over any one of the neocapitalist apparatik monkeys that play at politics in Parliament. The king is on the people's side. It's politicians that are the problem.
(Though I'll admit maybe he only is because he can't do much politics).

@Persephonee yeah ask Australians how they feel about that
And I’m also Swiss

@Ferise1 The commonwealth thing is a bit weird though it's probably also cheaper than everyone running elections for a head of state that doesn't do much anyway...
Ah now the Swiss approach is ideal!

I was driving home from oxford a few months ago. HS2 was causing issues so I was forced along a detour through rural Oxfordhire. I rounded a corner in a smaall village to be confronted with a farm. The farmyard had about 25 tanks in it and was advertising basically paintballing in a tank

As a bloke ...... this sounds brilliant. You can keep your guns, I am going to drive a tank

That is what the second amendment says. No second amendment no bill of rights. That is what puts the teeth in the Bill of rights.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Baremine Happily that document has no legal standing in the UK, which is why our children and young people spend more time learning, playing and socialising than worrying about how to protect themselves from armed citizens.

In the USA they sell rifles at the supermarket and they still arrest you for a bald JD meme...

@Ferise1 Crossing one of the world's busiest shipping lanes in unseaworthy and overloaded vessels while gendarmes on one side attempt to puncture your inflatable and geriatrics on the other shine lights into your eyes and incite hatred and violence through social media . .
I reckon those snowflake Vikings had it pretty easy in the 11th century!

@SunshineGirl true 😂

They did not get arrested for a tweet.
They got arrested for inciting racial and gender hatred and violence.
An armed population eats its own, as shown by contemporary America . . they kill children and get nowhere near the levers of power.

@JamesBugman thousands 😂😂😂
They just need to arm the teachers
They just need to arm the teachers
@Ferise1 And when a teacher loses it with one of the kids throwing pencils at him, what do you suppose happens? More children die. When some whacko army guy runs into the school with an automated weapon, the teachers with the guns will run the other direction. You can't give guns to civilians with mental issues, and you cannot tell which ones have it now, or will in the future, and you cannot teach a teacher how to kill either. It takes mental disease to want to kill things, without caring.
I think you need to distance yourself from whatever forums you are getting this nonsense from "They just need to arm the teachers"
