JT has just resigned. MC was a former Bank Governor for Canada & England. Given that Canada's economy is hurting and an election is a year away. Should MC become PM, or Chyrstia Freeland or someone else?

Is there a reason Canadian Politicians are so young? PM Trudeau is only 50. MP Pierre Poilievre is 45 and PM Jagmeet Singh is 46. President Biden is 82 and President Trump is 78. Why does Canada get all these young bright leaders and my country is run by Geriatrics?

@tenente Usually they are not young. Trudeau was a notable exception. The NDP (Singh's party) had a huge surge in membership among young people a few years back thanks to the late Jack Layton. Sadly he passed but his leadership got a ton of young people elected that honestly were probably surprised they were elected too. The NDP was a distant 3rd protest vote for decades. Jack Layton is the reason it is not a serious party in Canada at the national level.

@Guardian He generated a serious movement of support for left wing ideas in Canada and was the right person at the right time. Think like Bernie Sanders 2016 but probably even bigger impact. He got people elected in provinces that didn't have any NDP seats at all.

And if he had not died of cancer he likely would have been PM by a landslide and one of our most popular PMs ever. He likely would have taken the party from a distant 3rd protest vote to running the country.

Now unfortunately he also illustrated our own problems in our country long term. Jagmeet Singh has nearly an identical platform, is a great speaker and passionate, principles, but alot of people can't see past the turban.
