First interest rate rise since rates started being reduced in late 2023, and everyone's crowing like it's the end of the world!

It's not the end of world, and there will be more rate rises to come this year.

When I first got my home loan (in late 2023) I set my payments at well above the minimum required at the time and haven't reduced the amount since, so I can well cope, but people with massive mortages will suffer as will people who only just scraped through to get one and now have to find more money to make the repayments.

I'm 43, a full time worker and only just got enough for a deposit on a house. I don't think I have the energy for a 30 year mortgage even if I could afford it. Which I can't.
