If you're in Oz with a mortgage, do you think you are getting a good deal?

I rent still but might try my luck at a home loan this year.

What are the current rates most people in Oz are paying? Around 5 to 6 percent on a standard variable mortgage with 30 yr term?

Is your loan direct though a bank, etc. or through a broker/vendor?

From what I’ve heard Australia has amazing mortgage terms. You should buy an investment property with a suite as your first residence. The rules are so much more lenient than in Canada and the States.

Never go with a bank.
Atleast avoid the big four banks.

Use a broker instead.

Diff rates for owner occupied and investor loans.

Yes,around 5.5% ish

Good luck.

So add thirty years to your age....will you still be working then?

Brokers get their fees from the bank. If you have a good credit rating you should be able to negotiate with the bank. Do your homework, don't just take what seems like a good offer.
