Letter to the editor time again.

A recent television news report stated that housing prices will continue to rise with the effect that even fewer lower income people will be able to afford a home.
It was stated one major factor contributing to the rising prices was immigration.
2023/24 net immigration into Australia was 541,600.
With 53,400 of those arriving in Perth.
It is seriously time to stop denying that over immigration is destroying Australians' ability to live with dignity in their own country.

Australia already has very restrictive immigration policies (that conservatives in my country are always referring to). That net immigration rate can therefore be taken to reflect labour requirements. If people do not arrive productivity and economic growth will stall, which is likely to affect everyone's quality of life.

Prices generally rise when supply fails to meet demand. Rising house prices are therefore likely to be a consequence of insufficient numbers of houses being built or people owning multiple properties that are not used as homes. Singling out one group of the population for blame is not healthy.
