Australia's 'sun tax' states for exporting excess solar-transformed electricity to the grid
Victoria already does it. NSW starts doing in from July 2025 (this year).
ie. if you have solar on your home or your business the grid operator in your area will charge you (through your energy retailer) for exporting 'excess power' between 10 am and 3 pm (this might change) and the expectation is you have to install a B.E.S.S (Battery Energy Storage System) at your home or business to act as a 'sponge' to 'absorb excess solar-transformed electricity'.
How this will work in practise is not yet known.
The haves vs have nots situation of solar power continues unabated.
This might drive more people to re-evaluate their domestic energy usage and go fully off-grid with solar and batteries.
