Australia's 'sun tax' states for exporting excess solar-transformed electricity to the grid

Victoria already does it. NSW starts doing in from July 2025 (this year).

ie. if you have solar on your home or your business the grid operator in your area will charge you (through your energy retailer) for exporting 'excess power' between 10 am and 3 pm (this might change) and the expectation is you have to install a B.E.S.S (Battery Energy Storage System) at your home or business to act as a 'sponge' to 'absorb excess solar-transformed electricity'.

How this will work in practise is not yet known.

The haves vs have nots situation of solar power continues unabated.

This might drive more people to re-evaluate their domestic energy usage and go fully off-grid with solar and batteries.

I have panels, which i had installed before batteries were a thing. But by sheer chance my north facing roof had room for only enough panels to produce about 2/3rds of my electical needs. So I am content with a ridiculously small bill and only the occasional export unit..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I would only go solar if I was going to go completely off-grid in suburbia.

Maybe Australia and Canada can run a line between so Australia powers us when its dark here, and the reverse is also true.
