Wouldn't that both hydrate a lot of the more unlivable sections of it and slightly lower the ocean level just a tiny bit?
Seems like it'd be a win-win for them.

Just to add some perspective to this... The distance between Perth, West coast, and Sydney, East cost, if great then London to Moscow.... So back to the drawing board boys and girls
