Petrol prices went down in Australia

The Government halved the fuel excise.
Before, each litre attracted a 44.4 cents a litre tax.
It has been halved to 22.2 cents per litre.
Before it was halved I paid a top amount of $65 to fill my car.
Today I filled it for $44

And then they went up again. The federal government cut the excise (fixed federal tax) on petrol and diesel from 44.2 to 22.1 cents for 6 months ending on September 28th. When the excise respite ends, retail prices will be back in the A$2 to $2.50 range per litre.

@zonavar68 But that will be after the election.. Funny how that works..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman True, so if there's a change of government the pressure will be on the new government straight away. If the incumbents (Aussie versions of Trumpanzees) are re-elected nothing will change.

@zonavar68 The worst of our right wingers are still "Trump Lite" and still shooting holes in the Conservatives ultraslim chance of re election. Its getting tough to find a Lib or Nat who hasnt been tied to some corruption scandal or other.😷

@Gusman And there is your problem in a nutshell. Palmer thinks he if Trump and the rest think they are God. We really are faced with the choice of who to vote out..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Maybe we need to give it to Palmer. Throw the majors out

@Gusman NOT EVEN AS A JOKE!.. Personally I believe in turning over parties every 2 to 3 terms. Thatr way everything gets done in the end. But thats just me.
