They are beaten and humiliated by their own mothers if young women try to participate in any sports.
The Taliban only see women as servile objects.

Imagine if the US decided to ban all American women from participating in sport.

Difference in cultures. In the US there'd be another Million Woman march, in Afghanistan they'd flog a million for daring to be so immodest.
