I agree. Although I live in a country the same area as the 48 states and we get by with 6 six states. (Including one federal territory. I believe Americans define themselves more closely with their state or region than they do as Americans. And ther often dont regard each other well. We dont see so much of that beyond a humorous commentary.😷
pride49 · 31-35, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Nah I don't badmouth other states. Though I do call city people "city slickers" cause they usually don't have common sense xD
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@pride49 That makes perfect sense. Different environment, different skill set. I wouldnt dump one of our country people in the middle of a big city and expect them to drive..But I am aware of a lot of inter regional rivalry between rural folk, bible belters and East Coat V coast and North west is different from Texas.. (Whichh is almost middle size by our standards.)😷
pride49 · 31-35, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Eh I just get anxious driving in the city. Still haven't seen those diamond lanes where only families can drive on them I learned about in drivers ed.
Doomflower · 41-45, M
It takes me about eight hours of flying (not counting layovers and delays) to get from one coast to the other. I once drove coast to coast for a move (so no long rests, just camping/hotels overnight) and it took me about a week.

Exactly. The US is so big that saying "From the US tells you little about them".
Besides I ways find it funny and odd how little some people from other countries seem to identify with their region as opposed to their country.
I know I am personally extreme even for an American but I will always identify as a New Yorker first and American second.

Why would anyone complain about that lol. The US is so large that states literally have different climates, it would be like if I said I live "somewhere in Europe" to not mention the state. 😆
pride49 · 31-35, M
@Nightwings I had a family vacation to Arizona when I was young. Man I love the desert it's so dry. The humidity up here is bad. You'll sweat in the cold xD

There’s probably been a few like that. No big deal to me. I live in Pennsylvania.

How about this one?
The CITY of New York has a larger municipal budget ($116 billion) than any municipality other than the United States FEDERAL government ($7.01 trillion) and the STATES of California ($321.1 billion) and New York ($254 billion).
That means the CITY, which encompasses five counties, has a larger economy than 48 STATES, to say nothing of four more counties within its borders than any other city.
That’s not any kind of boast. It’s just fact.

moreover, town / city names are frequently reused throughout the US (generally in different states, but sometimes the same place name may be used twice even within one state)
So Podunk Holler, US is rarely specific enough, it could be Podunk Holler, Arkabama, US, or Podunk Holler, Pennsyltucky, US

Like, it's so cool how you Balkanized your "country"! No socialism for "y'all!"

@pride49 totally. Education isn't needed in poor places.
Huh? Nothing you can do. Nothing. It's hopeless. You're poor and without options!

@pride49 their states can't maintain a stable welfare system. Their states won't build public infrastructure! Good for you. Balkanized to keep socialism away and unable to understand this sentence!

So you’re agreeing with me… but you’re acting like you don’t
