What is it people don't like about it?
@Entwistle the false penalties creating prime opportunities for "star" players seemed rather unnatural, the lack of effort throughout the game, was boring to me. Only in extra minutes did effort become prevalent.

@checkoutanytime Today there was a lack of effort before extra time is silly.
Also i was talking about the sport in general not just that match.
Have you watched many other matches?
@Entwistle No. I wont bother to. Its like the Free Mason's control on pro sports in USA, but the 7's secret society control of the world.

To your question it seems there just isn't enough action, too much defense outweighing the offense, and low scoring games. I'm used to back and forth action, not waiting forever for a score. For me, I respond to contact sports like American football, basketball, Australian rules football, a bit of rugby, MMA, etc. I can appreciate soccer but it takes forever to score. I suppose to a certain degree we're each a product of our own environment and I grew up on American football (college and pro), and I prefer this...

So it's probably a matter of personal preference and I can see your point of view.

@PatKirby Fair points. To me seeing someone score eery few minutes takes away the appreciation of the skill and the build up play, takes away the excitement of a goal too if you are seeing one every 5 mins.
I've never understood American football..the rules I mean. Also it seems to stop and start very often.
It definitely is a part of how we were raised and our different cultures.

Not necessarily every few minutes, but not waiting way too long either. There's a sweet spot I suppose. If I get up and get a beer at the snack bar (or make nachos or popcorn in the kitchen) and come back to a score or two then yes, that's too fast. The defense is not doing their job.

As you probably already know, American football developed from rugby. It's basically about earning the most points by taking the football into your opponents end zone behind them by passing or running the ball. You must earn at least ten yards on your way there (the end zone) before your opponent tackles you down. You have four of these 'downs', or chances, to earn your next first down/ten yards (game clock stops on every down). Otherwise, if you do not make at least ten yards on the way to the end zone the ball is turned over to your opponent, and it is their turn to try to get into your end zone behind you.

It's the struggle to earn your goals, figure out your opponent's strategy, and make proper adjustments while playing out the clock. Doesn't really matter what specific sport it is. Tennis, bowling, race car driving, it amounts to the same thing. Some sports are more aggressive than others, however I do enjoy watching a good game of chess. It is considered a sport, just played from the neck up.

@Entwistle Field is way too big and there's to many rules about roughing. At least put up some walls for the ball to ricochette off or something. It's just so much of nothing happening but a ball being passed back and forth ad nauseum.
