When did republicanism change from

a political ideology centred on citizenship in a state and emphasise on self rule to Conservatism?

As far as I'm concerned, Republicanism is still Representative Democracy. I'm a literal republican. But the Republican Party has abandoned actual Republicanism decades ago.
