What's with Graham on the Abortion bill?

He's bucking what seems to be the established Republican strategy for the midterms for sure, and the Dem/pro choice crowd will surely jump on "this is what they really want" and the States Rights/legal crap is BS, which seems like an awfully big gamble for a guy whose term is not up.

Does he really think this is the magic the Republicans need for the midterms, or is he, in this case, staying "relevant" for the 2024 Presidential campaign?

I tend to think the latter, personally.

Graham has no significant other, and no children. He has no business even talking about a woman's body or her choices regarding her body.

Lindsey is nothing but a weak man who is a moral coward.

@Ynotisay phenomenal thing, and I have seen this in action but some right wing politicians have lied for so long they believe their own lies.

@Ynotisay

Kelly Anne Conway: "Don't believe what you see and hear, we're doing alternate facts."

They listen real good. Obedient things they are.

You can't reason with them, there is no compromise with them. They are who they are, simple, lazy, and bored.

@BackyardShaman

You're dang right, they believe their own lies, you almost have when you are encouraging others to fight you battles.

Graham will suck every available @#$& to keep himself relevant. The guy has lost any sense of direction since his friend John McCain died.

But from a political maneuvering standpoint, I think the bill is an attempt to say "see, this is what you can have if you vote GOP in November."

*If* he proposed a bill that codified legal abortions under 15 weeks in all states, and outlawed them afterwards except in medical and rape cases, he would probably get quite a few democrats to jump on board. But my feeling is that his bill as it is will backfire and actually bring more pro choice folks to the polls.

Graham has a very unrealistic view of what the majority of the USA wants, and a complex misunderstanding of women in general. He is basically a country hick.

@BackyardShaman My money is that Graham is gay.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@trollslayer Lady Lindsey needs to come out of the closet. He's so far in the light switch is lost.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
@trollslayer it’s likely, however SC is full of “mommy’s boys” just like him that grew up in a guarded, privileged household. Many of them never come into contact with a black person until they turn 18. They tend to talk and behave real prissy like Lindsey does. Some are gay, some just don’t care and some are bi or straight. I suspect Lindsey is either closet gay or just doesn’t care.

Squeezing the money out of the rich evangelicals, I would guess.

and the States Rights/legal crap is BS
This was clear to everyone.

@Elessar Good point. Didn't cross my mind that it was a money move. Disappointed in myself. Should have been the first thing I considered.
Ynotisay · M
A bizarre move. Most Americans don't want what he's selling. And so much for the State Rights bullshit. I think it's much more about him than any type of legislation that will see the light of day. Personally I don't see him running for President. Don't think he'd get out of the gate. But he's angling for something. Firing up 'the base?' Uh...OK.

Graham will not survive a single day in the primaries. He's as low as they can get, even for a politician.
