What will Liz Cheney be doing come 2022?

It seems almost unimaginable she'll be in the House, and while I'm sure CNN would be willing to pay her better than Jeffrey Lorde, its hard to imagine she'd do it for the money since daddy seems to be in her corner.

Do you think Murdoch will pick her up?

Or will she and Yang somehow make common cause?

It all seems pretty absurd to me, but I'd hate to see her become another Kasich.
Everyone's love for Cheney is misplaced. She voted with Trump 92% of the time. She is still voting Party Line now. She would have done many of the things Trump did but not so publically. One thing I don't see her doing is selling Top Secret information. Dick Chaney is an evil man. His involvement in the Iraq war got him an approval rating of 13 by the time he left.
@Carla She's still voting Party Line. So collectively what are the Republicans trying to achieve? Take all rights away, including voting rights? End the Public Education System? DeSantis is doing an excellent job in that respect.

@Pitchblue
As i said, i don't agree with her policies.
Desantis is trump 2.0.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MistyCee I suspect she hopes to be in the leadership of the Republican Pheonix when it rises from the ashes a couple of election cycles from now. The is a Politician after all.😷
TexChik · F
Just as long as she is gone and out of the party , I don’t care what she does. Of course we will get to listen to all of her bs about Trump , but then again what’s one more ?
TexChik · F
@MistyCee one of the networks will pick her up
Claiming she’s an expert about Trump .
@TexChik Yeah, that's my guess too, honestly, and my guess is she'll be a prize.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@MistyCee in the Democratic party followed by Romney and a few other RINOs
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
Hey, what could go wrong for Liz Cheney?

She has O.J. Simpson's endorsement. 👍
TexChik · F
@Thinkerbell Maybe he will give her the Nicole special and do us all a favor.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@TexChik

But, but... OJ is still looking for the real killer.
TexChik · F
@Thinkerbell The left hand didnt know what the right hand was doing

Given the backbone that she has shown in recent years with regards to the toxicity and hypocrisy coming from her own side of the political aisle, it's hard to believe that she'll give up and take a back seat.

Yang has been teaming up with people from all over the political map in an attempt to depolarize the political radicalization she's been squaring off against, so maybe she does decide to hop aboard and lend her voice to the cause.

Maybe I'm biased because I'm a long-time fan of Andrew Yang, but she hasn't backed down an inch despite having so much to lose, so maybe she'll try to bring some sanity to the system by weakening the extremist's hold on the GOP
@TinyViolins Yang is wasting his time, so he might as well waste hers too.
Liz upped her net worth by $37 million between 2017 and 2020, to a tidy $44 million. Her hubby's law firm represents Hunter Biden, which should be lucrative, and hubby himself is the 2nd largest shareholder in a Chinese tech company. Made himself 700K share consulting for them. So Liz can pick and choose. Book deal? CNN or MSNBC? Perhaps The View? Hang out and eat pork chops?
She’s going to run for President. Her base will be conservatives who hate Trump and moderates who aren’t automatically in the Democratic column. Depending on what happens to him, there could be more of them by then.

It’s one strategy.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@LeopoldBloom

Sounds likely.

As a third-party candidate, she'd pull a lot more votes from a Republican than from a Democrat.

Sort of like Ross Perot.
@Thinkerbell She won't run as an independent as she doesn't want to be a spoiler who will be responsible for electing a Democrat. I think she'll run as a Republican in the anti-Trump lane. She's banking on Trump being so toxic by then, anyone associated with him will be tainted. Like I said, it's a strategy. If Trump is on trial but still the most popular GOP candidate, Cheney's campaign will just be performative.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@LeopoldBloom

If Trump is out of the picture, Liz wouldn't stand any chance against DeSantis.

He could conceivably take her as a VP running mate, as a gesture toward party unity.
Vactioning with Obama?
ron122 · 41-45, M
@checkoutanytime I don't think the Obama's like white people.
@ron122 its not white or black, its his actions against, that serve his church, that make him a bottom tier president.
Carla · 61-69, F
I think she will do what she needs to stay relevant. I don't think that includes a panel job.
I think she waits for things to come to a head, then runs for potus in 2024.
Carla · 61-69, F
@MistyCee just maybe the republicans come out of their trances. If trump goes away. I dont know. Im generally not an optimist. But the probable reality isnt easy to look at.
@Carla I hear you. But I'll say this, if she can manufacture a Presidency out of this stuff, it'll dwarf the accomplishments of any other President.
Carla · 61-69, F
@MistyCee i grinned openly at that🙂.
And what you say is absolutely the truth.
ron122 · 41-45, M
She gonna be a hoe.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Well in her speech she zeroed in on everyone uniting against the Trumpists. Republicans, Independents and Democrats. So it cant hurt...😷
Baremine · 70-79, C
@whowasthatmaskedman she just needs to go away. Good riddance.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Baremine Actually i completely agree with you. But for all the wrong reasons. She was what used to be known as a hard right Republican. Its a measure of how far the party has moved that she has come to this. But she it clearly counting on the pendulum to swing back and wants to stop it before is goes too far and makes her look like a nazi. As long as the two factions within the Republicans exist, the democrats will have a free run. So I hope they keep it up for a couple of decades.😷
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
I’m not sure but perhaps she will organize a less toxic side of the GOP, if anything is there to work with.
@BackyardShaman Seems less likely than her getting her house seat back again, tbh. But its a nice fantasy.
Oster1 · M
If she is so smart, why did she destroy her career? Burned it to the ground!
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@eli1601 Yup. Good catch.

Addition edit: I'd lowkey die laughing if Pelosi retired and the Ds nominated Cheney speaker.

Lol. My own death might not be Lowkey if that could happen.
