Will Bannon go to prison?

I'd put the odds as pretty slim at this point, given that he won't be sentenced until late October, still has appeal rights, and the fact that his Contempt for Congress is so politically popular.

Between that and getting Trump to release non-existent privilege, my guess is, even though he "lost," he's probably won, especially since he was pardoned and given free license to commit fraud again.

It’s hard for me to even predict, nothing may happen, he may get sentenced and go to jail, he may wind up with the equivalent of a traffic ticket, house arrest, or Trump may suddenly claim he’s never met him and ignore him totally. He might get a suspended sentence, a couple of weekends of community service, who knows at this point.

The pardon power (always shaky at best) was used by Trump to guarantee silence and cooperation for political corruption and power. No doubt, this would be upheld by the Supreme Court which would point to the fact that the Constitution doesn't say the pardon power can't be used to purchase silence or to subvert the rule of law.

Since the criminal justice system takes decades for the appeal/motion process to run out if you have enough cash, I don't see how a conviction would ever lead to prison, anyway.

Finally, if a Republican is elected President, the Justice Department would shut down any criminal proceeding against Bannon as part of its ex post facto support of the attempted coup against the incoming Biden administration.

So, if I were Bannon, I would sit back, start another fake fund raising operation, and wait for the cash to flow in.
@Fukfacewillie That's pretty much the game. He's got roughly two years to drag it out and it seems doable, assuming he doesnt just get off with a fine.

@MistyCee The judge may balk at prison time, or make it a week, something like that. Or his sentence paused so that Mr. Bannon can make his appeals. Maybe Bannon can get the case to Trump's pals in the Supreme Court.
@Fukfacewillie I'm sure he could stay out pending appeal if he wants to. Bannon just needs to weigh his options.

A few months ago I would have said 'no.' It's a little different now. I think a message needs to be sent that no one is above the law. A line in the sand for Democracy.

I don't remember. Did Obama's wingman go to prison for the same misdemeanor?

@MistyCee Two tiered justice.

@eli1601 Whataboutism that refers to something that happened more than a decade ago doesn't get you out of answering the question.

I think he'll be given a suspended sentence, along with a massive fine, but he will be a convicted felon and that's going to follow him.
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@Northwest He won’t need a clean criminal record.

libs gotta ask themselves: "Is it worth it"? Very soon the tables will be turned. Are they really that stupid?
@TexChik Nichols gets the next call and he's hardly a "lib," although he's probably pretty invested in tables.

Will Bannon go to prison?

For what?

Is it a crime to be prettier than Nancy Pelosi?
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@Budwick Good thing it's not. About 330 million would be indicted.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
He should at least go to jail for contempt of court. But of course, he won't. None of these pieces of shit are going to jail. There's no damn justice in this country.
