New York LOWERS the educational standards for students between grades 3 and 8 in math and reading.

Significant damage was done during Covid and the lockdowns, and students in these grade brackets suffered a lowering of test scores on average of 30 per cent.

Unfortunately, once lowered, the standards will never go back up.

Charles Payne of Fox financial news said it best this morning. (Paraphrasing):

The TRUE white supremacists are the elites of Manhattan, who sit on their various boards and make decisions to lower the educational standards for inner city kids. And yet these same elites would NEVER consider hiring one of those undereducated children to work inside their own companies. Instead, they want to create a permanent underclass, which can only survive by receiving free food, rent subsidies, and welfare.

U.S. educational standards have been slowly eroding for a long time.
In my parent's generation, an average grade was a C (also known as the 'gentleman's C'), nothing to write home about, but not a disgrace either.

Since then, the average has crept up to a B (grade inflation), and now a standing joke is "if you want a good high-school education, go to college." Only it isn't funny.

This latest move by NY State is not creeping any longer; it's falling off a cliff. 🙄
