Compare it the US and that is so miniscule, but if it is a problem where you are then it should be addressed
@Ironicman I know that. Americans or Brits, they're still lost to all of us
I truly believe we have grown far too tolerant of murder. I get sick when I hear someone killed a twenty year old and got sentenced to ten years in prison. At the very LEAST the sentence should be at least the number of years they stole from their victim, by life expectancy tables.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Mamapolo2016 yes, well said. I wholeheartedly agree

Giaalexer · 26-30, F
Not just London. USA kids killed in schools
fazer1k · 56-60, M
Where did you get that statistic from?

Edit: 46 during first quarter - just found that. London is overtaking New York for murder rate, apparently.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@fazer1k yep, it appears to be the case
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
@fazer1k are you the famous EP fazer? Good to see you still about if so. 😉
fazer1k · 56-60, M
@Mikemcneil Not sure about 'famous' but yes, same one. Good to see you here too. 🙂

Unfortunately, it is the way it is in this modern world. However, considering how many people walked those streets and didn't get stabbed, the percentage of victims must be very low. Mind you, that is of little comfort to their families, I know.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@pennynoodles I just feel so sorry for those families , parents and loved ones who get that awful knock on the door. One death is too many and if it continues to be an every day occurance the urgency for society to intervene will be lost.
pennynoodles · 56-60, F
Yes, so do I and yes, one death is too many. @Ironicman
HANNIBALLECTER · 51-55, M
I think I'd clean the streets of London sooner or later...
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@HANNIBALLECTER how's Clarise doing?
HANNIBALLECTER · 51-55, M
@Ironicman Very well, I won't touch her with a ... tooth.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@HANNIBALLECTER ok..as one puts the lotion in the bucket.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Is that a rhetorical question or do you really not know?
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 no this is not rhetorical and I'm seriously at a loss to understand the high numbers of lost lives YTD.

We hear so many reasons put forward by so called experttw.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Ironicman Never look to an expert if you want a real answer.
Consider all the anger you see here times London
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
Wannabe gangstas and police cutbacks. What do you expect to happen?
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
Not sure about the absent fathers bit. Peer group pressure provides role models but sadly they're all negative ones. The culture of knife crime has been there for at least thirty years now.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Mikemcneil I don't recall our youth going out with a blade as a matter of routine. If we wanted a scrap we fought with our fists.
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
@Ironicman there were knives carried in my neck of the woods at school but few and far between. It's not a white male problem.
pennynoodles · 56-60, F
I think we should move to Mauritius, the crime rate is very low over there and thieves are prosecuted, not just let off with a smacked hand.
NJA82 · 41-45, M
Even one is too many, but to put it into context, last month 70 people were murdered in Chicago.

MethDozer · M
Oh but the UK is supposed to be such a civil and violence free place. 🙄
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
@MethDozer three months in London and less people murdered than in ten minutes in Vegas....
MethDozer · M
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Mikemcneil that's frightning
